Hon. Enejoh Sani, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Grassroots Mobilisation, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo over the peaceful conduct of the local government council elections held across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State on Saturday.
Sani described the peaceful conduct of the exercise as an encouraging development for grassroots democracy, noting that a peaceful electoral environment is essential to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting political participation and sustaining public confidence in the electoral process.
He commended the Kogi State Government for its role in maintaining peace and providing an enabling environment for the council elections, while acknowledging the importance of cooperation among political stakeholders, security agencies, electoral officials and residents in ensuring an orderly exercise.

According to him, peaceful elections are fundamental to democratic development, particularly at the grassroots level, where local government administrations play a vital role in delivering essential services and addressing the needs of communities.
The governor’s aide also called on political leaders, party supporters and residents to sustain the spirit of peace, tolerance and unity beyond the elections, stressing that political differences should not undermine the collective interest of the state.
He urged elected local government officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by prioritising development projects, improving service delivery and remaining accountable to the people they represent.

He further emphasised the importance of political unity, peaceful engagement and sustained dialogue among stakeholders as preparations gradually begin for the next electoral cycle.
Sani urged supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain organised and committed to peaceful political engagement while continuing to promote the party’s programmes and policies at the grassroots.
