Ekinrin Community Youth Movement has dissociated itself from the removal of Ogbade Statue at Oja-Ode, Ekinrin Adde in Ijumu local government of Kogi state.
In a statement signed by the President, Abedemi Oni, the youth movement said it voted against removal of the statue at the recent peace accord meeting.
The statement issued in Tuesday noted that the rumour making rounds that the removal was concluded in the peace accord meeting is inaccurate.
“It was actually decided by Adde in council, with Ekinrin in council and its community youth movement voting against it.
“We firmly believe that cultural and artistic landmarks, such as the Akinrin and Ogbade statues, are integral to the identity of our community and the history of our people.
“These monuments represent our shared heritage and add both beauty and historical value to our ever growing city. We support initiatives that celebrate and honor our history, much like cities such as Lagos and Ibadan, who take pride in commemorating their past heroes through statues and monuments,” the statement read.

The youth group urged everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation.
The statement added that the youth movement will always advocate for more cultural and artistic projects that will enhance and showcase the rich history of Ekinrin-Adde community, which by extension can drive tourism development the community.
“By preserving and promoting our heritage, we can build a stronger, more united community for future generations.”
