Former Accountant General of Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Momoh has congratulated Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo on his victory at the Supreme Court.
Reacting to the outcome of the legal battle that pitted the governor against the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alh. Murtala Ajaka which terminated at the apex court on Friday, Momoh urged all members of the various opposition parties to close ranks in the interest of the state.
According to him, the outcome of the Supreme Court on the governorship tussle marks the end of all efforts by the opposition to challenge Ododo’s victory at last governorship election.
“The only options left for the opposition elements is to close rank and join the amiable governor who was chosen by Almighty God at this moment.
“The only option left is for all opposition elements to queue behind the progressive policies and programmes that the governor has been implementing since coming on board.
“I say this because we are all brothers and sisters of the same state with common bond and it is now incumbent on all of us to support the governor at this time,” Momoh said.
According to him, the state is witnessing remarkable progress since the new administration took office and that only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that the seeds of development being planted can germinate.
He stated that all the efforts of the current regime are all tailored towards consolidating on the strides of the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahya Bello.
“Since coming on board of this government, a lot of remarkable progress has been made. For instance as result of policies and program of last administration, civil servants are being regularly paid as at when due.
“A lot concerted efforts are being made in the agric sector with the state moving towards sustainable goal in food security. These efforts are also ensuring that more youths are being deployed for productive and useful purposes,” he said.
Momoh also commended the governor for employing over 2000 youths as aides, saying such would make them (the youths) busy and kept away from social vices.
He congratulated the entire people of Kogi State over the outcome of the supreme court.
