African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday unveiled a former National President of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Idris Omede, as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party for the November 11 Kogi governorship election.

Unveiling Omede at the State headquarters of the party in Lokoja, the ADC governorship candidate, Hon. Leke Abejide assured the people of Kogi state of their readiness to lead the affairs of the state strictly on the tenets of justice, equity, and fairness to all, as well as putting the interest of the state at the forefront to ensure development and peaceful coexistence.
Abejide stated that Kogi State needs a governor with a strong will and genuine inclination toward the development of the people through stomach and physical infrastructure.
He added that his government, if elected with Dr Omede as his deputy, will focus on workers’ welfare, including pensioners who have served the government.
The ADC candidate also promised to revive the 21 LGAs and implement local government autonomy to grant the third tier of government the will to serve the people at the grassroots and to curb the menace of insecurity in the state.
He further stated that the education sector in the state will receive more funding to give the youth the will to improve their lives through qualitative and quantitative education.
He said the LekeOmede candidacy for Governor and Deputy is on a rescue mission to salvage the people of Kogi state from starvation.
Dr. Omede is a former Commissioner for Health in Kogi State. Aside NMA, he served as the National President of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), and a fellow of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). Dr. Idris Omede is an accomplished Medical Doctor with vast knowledge in the health sector.
Dr. Omede, in his speech, appreciated Hon. Leke Abejide for his numerous projects and achievements in his Federal Constituency, and for also wanting to rescue the state.
Dr. Omede stated that Kogi State needs a government that understands inclusiveness and development,.
“2023 governorship election is another opportunity for the people of the state to ensure that a government that understands the expectancies of the people like Hon. Leke and Dr. Omede comes on board.
“The best product can be from anywhere, irrespective of where the individual comes from, this time the best product is Leke/Omede.
“Poverty does not know ethnicity or religion, Leke/Omede is the right ticket that can deliver what the people of the state yearns for.
“Governance is about the needs, demands, feelings, and wishes of the people, it also entails giving back to the people. Collective leadership is what Leke and Omede have brought to the people,” he said.
Continuing, Dr. Omede said “we have come to give practical solutions to the problems to the yearnings of the people to meet their long-awaited dividends of democracy.”
Omede enjoined the people of Kogi state to look beyond party basis and affiliations and work together to rescue the state and make the state succeed through Leke/Omede as Governor and Deputy Governor.
He encouraged the people to join and vote for African Democratic Congress (ADC).
