Engr. Mathew Olatunde Ajigi has called on the people of Kogi state to get seriously involved in the socio-political development of the state.
Ajigi made the call in Lokoja on Friday when our called him to felicitate the public commentator on his birthday.
The Kabba-born businessman cum politician charged electorate in the state to ensure they participate in all the process preceding the next general election, stressing that Kogi must get it right in 2023.
Ajigi said the socio-economic condition of Kogi indigenes and residents calls for concerted efforts to correct all anomaly in the state, starting with electing competent and credible leaders in 2023.
“We cannot afford to fold our arms and expect miracles. The great Kogi we all dream about can only be birthed if we all determine to get involved.
“Kogi has all it takes to be great and become the envy of other states in the country. We are blessed with great talents, eminent scholars and abundant natural resources that can be harnessed to alter the status quo.
“Change begins with leadership. We need competent and credible leaders who can chart the course for the desired greatness. We need State House and National Assembly members who understands the challenges of each and every community they seek to represent. Of course, we need a Governor who can harness our abundant human and natural resources. In same vein, we need to vote for a President that will not overlook Kogi state.
“Kogi must get it right in 2023. And for that to happen, everyone, home and in diaspora, must get involved. We cannot leave our destiny in the hands of a few who only seek their own. We must scrutinize all candidates vying for elective positions and mobilize, outside political party lines, and educate voters to do justice at the polls,” he said.
He stated that though oil wells may dry up one day and other mineral deposits may become valueless but the knowledge gold mine, as represented by Kogi intelligentsia, will sustain the state beyond present times.
