The corpse of Opaluwa Okpanachi Samuel, who was abducted on Wednesday, has been found in forest along Ejule-Aloma road in Ofu local government area of Kogi state.

Samuel, brother to the Vice Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi state council, Comrade Simeon Eleojo Opaluwa, was kidnapped while returning from an official assignment in Ugwolawo, Ofu LGA.

Until his death, late Samuel was an officer attached to the Primary Health Centre in Ochikala, Aloma.

A family source confirmed that Samuel’s corpse was found by the police on Thursday morning.

The source added that while he was in the den of kidnappers, no ransom was demanded as his abductors did not make any contact with his friends or family.

He confirmed that there were bullet wounds on his thighs when the corpse was discovered and has been deposited in a mortuary.

Speaking on the incident, the NLC Vice Chairman said he is deeply saddened.

He stated that finding out his abducted brother was dead became a double blow for him and his family as he lost an aunt yesterday in an accident in Ajaka, Igalamela-Odolu LGA.

“He was abducted along with other persons. His vehicle was among the other two vehicles as recovered by the police,” he said.

All efforts to reach the Divisional Police Officer in Ejule for more information proved abortive as he could not be reached.
