Kogi NUT Chairman Wants State Govt. to Take Over Funding of Primary Education

The Chairman of Kogi State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr. Thomas Ayodele has called on the State Government to take over funding of primary school Education.

Mr. Ayodele said leaving the administration of primary schools for Local Government pose great danger for basic Education in the country.

The NUT Chairman made the call while speaking with Newsmen in Lokoja, the State Capital on the 2021 International Teachers Day.

“We have been appealing to the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to take over the funding of primary school salary or add more Funds to whatever Local Government is having to make proper funding for teachers in the local government.” He stated.

Mr. Ayodele commended Primary School Teachers for their steadfastness and commitment to duty and expressed optimism of a better pay for them soon.

He congratulated Teachers on this year’s Celebration and commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his relentless effort in revamping Kogi State Education sector.

Similarly, the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), Mrs. Cecilia Cook has felicitated with Teachers on the 2021 World Teachers Day Celebration.

Mrs. Cook who described Teachers as the engine of Education, commended them for their contributions to the growth of Education in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

She reiterated the commitment of the State Government in enhancing teaching and learning, urging Teachers to continue to contribute their quota to the development of the education sector in the state.
