Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday evening abducted the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences at the Kogi State University, Anyigba, Prof. John Alabi.
According to an eyewitness, the varsity don was abducted by a gang of five at the gate of his residence at Anyigba.
Family sources confirmed that the gunmen have contacted the victim’s wife and the university management on Tuesday morning, demanding for a N20 million ransom.
When contacted, the Kogi Police PRO, DSP William Aya, confirmed the incident.
Aya said the state Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dauban, had ordered a special squad to go after the perpetrators and rescue the victim alive.
