The Deputy Governor of Kogi State and member, Board of Trustees, Igala Education Foundation (IEF), Dr. Edward Onoja, on Saturday, met with the pioneer first class graduate of the department of history and international studies, Kogi State University.
Onoja celebrated the young achiever who is also an indigene of Olamaboro local government of the state like the Deputy Governor.
A visibly elated Deputy Governor stated that he is proud of Mary’s towering feat.
He disclosed that in the same measure of excitement, his wife, Mrs Ejura Okee Mercy Onoja has adopted Mary with scholarship support to fund her masters degree as part of this year’s IEF’s award to 40 first class graduates.
The 40 IEF award recipients is an increase from that of 2019 with a total number of 26.
Representative of IEF, Professor Omada of NOUN, revealed that by the end of 2022, if the culture is sustained, over 100 first class graduates of Igala extraction across Nigeria must have been empowered to acquire their post graduate education.
Omada noted that the awards would contribute immensely to the academia, business world, families, Igala land, Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
He acknowledged the Deputy Governor’s unprecedented support of IEF’s vision which clearly has raised the bar from N70,000 to the present mark of N500,000.
Igala Education Foundation (IES) was a brainchild of late Igala Icon and former Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University, Prof Francis Idachaba of blessed memory.
