IYC Wants Enhanced Security Presence in Igala Land

The Igala Youths Council (IYC) has called on Kogi state government to deploy more security personnel to the esatern flank of the state to ensure the safety of lives and property. 

Addressing the Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Edward Onoja in Lokoja, the national executives and all local government coordinators of IYC pointed out that the rising level of insecurity in Kogi East senatorial district is worrisome.

Led by the National President of the IYC, Hon. Collins Onogu Monday, the group called for improved security in the area.

Onoja, in his response, assured the group of the state government’s determination to flush out all criminal elements in Kogi state.

He said the government recently deployed more security personnel to flash points across the state.

The deputy governor added that the state government had just inaugurated community policing system with over two hundred police constables trained to boost intelligence gathering and to work hand in hand with the vigilante group, Civil Defence Corps, Police and other armed forces to make the state safer than ever before.

In a remark, the National Treasurer, Miss Uwunchola Edobo Maryjane called on the state government to intervene in the construction of Ibaji road as the deplorable state of the road is causing residents untold hardship. 

The advocacy visit is to go round other illustrious sons and daughters of the area to fashion out how to develop Igala land.
