A former member of the House of Representative, Hon. Idris King, has distributed food items for Sallah, with a call on the people to pray for peace, unity and progress of Kogi state.
While addressing Muslim faithfuls in Okene on Saturday, Hon. Idris King said Eid El Kabir signifies sacrifice, love and compassion. He noted that his gesture is another way to show love and brotherliness.
Hon. Idris King described eid el kabir as a season for reflection, commended the unity of purpose existing in the state, said it needs be sustained.
The former lawmaker equally commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for clearing the backlog of salaries owed workers in the state civil service, described the governor as a promise keeper.
Hon. King said by the governor’s action to offset all arrears owed workers, he has shown that he is a listening governor, whose love for the workers knows no bound.
The lawmaker explained that the governor, by his humane gesture, has warmed himself into the hearts of the people, adding that the governor has become the toast of Kogites.
“By the governor’s demonstration of love to the people of the state, it now behoves on the people to reciprocate the gesture by voting overwhelmingly for the governor in November,” he said.
The former lawmaker said since one good turn deserves another, the people of Kogi state should support the second term bid of the governor. He promised that another term will be more rewarding for the people and state.
The former lawmaker enjoined Muslims to use the period of eid el kabir to uphold the spiritual benefit of the celebration by extending a hand of friendship and solidarity across all divides and to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and obedience to the higher authority as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammed.
