An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Hon. Balogun Ade Bright has described his aspiration as divine.

Balogun made this known on Thursday while declaring his intention to vie for the state top seat.

He stated that late Chief Silas Daniyan’s repeated aspiration to govern Kogi state was a source of inspiration to him as a child.

“It is a dream come true that today I am aspiring for the governorship position of Kogi State. I grew up as a little child nursing this dream, I was an ardent lover of Chief S.B Daniyan’s governorship bids in the early nineties as a child in the primary school. I remember vividly how I felt sick and couldn’t eat when Chief S.B Daniyan lost his bid to be Governor of Kogi State. That day I promised myself that one day I will contest to be the Governor of Kogi State and today the dream has become a reality.

“I have traveled around across Kogi State, I have interacted, made friends and built relationships across Kogi State. I know the problems of Kogi State and I know the solution to these problems and at this point of my life, I am well equipped, qualified and ready  to govern Kogi State.

“Kogi State is blessed with remarkable history and massive natural potentials (humans and minerals) and if elected as Governor, I will look inward to explore and develop our natural potentials to develop a viable economy, create employments and generate wealth across the state.

Balogun hailed the national leadership of APC for adopting the indirect mode of primary election to select the party flag bearer for the November governorship poll.

“On the issue of modalities for APC governorship primary, I think the National Working Committee (NWC) has made the best decision by adopting indirect primary election, because, from precedence we will see that indirect primary is what we are used to and any attempt to change that system will only create more problems that could affect the chances of the party candidate  at the November 16 election. The only time that direct primary was used in the history of the state was in SDP primary election in 1991 which was responsible for the most popular party losing the State to Prince Abubakar Audu’s NRC.

“It is worrisome to note that the most of the people agitating for direct primary are more of PDP members and other party than they are of APC, and I hope that the NWC in their wisdom will see the call for a direct primary as the gimmick of the PDP to cause crisis in APC for them to take over the state.

“The indirect method of primary is less controversial, less expensive and more transparent. I, therefore, enjoin every true member of APC, fellow aspirants to support the indirect primary,” he said.

He urged Kogi electorate to work with him to actualize his divine aspiration.
