The unfortunate neglect of Ajaokuta Steel complex is unarguably the reflection of high level of ineptitude by successive leaders and governments in this country.
Over the years, this project has the potential to positively turn around the technological and economic fortunes of our country.
The complex would have assisted Nigeria and Kogi State in particular make its way out of the unemployment quandary that it is trapped in. However, it has become a ritual for politicians to attempt scoring cheap political scores whenever general election approaches.
It appears the people are wiser now and will not be beguiled again. This makes the recent attempt by Sen. Smart Adeyemi to pull the wool over the eyes of people, a pathetic waggish pronouncement.
For a man who achieved his all on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party to join the chorus whenever PDP is being vilified is not only ingratiating but a discreditable lack of gratitude.
For eight years in the Senate, Sen. Smart Adeyemi could not raise a motion to assist the resuscitation of the Complex despite his touted closeness to President Goodluck Jonathan. From the foreign investors he could not attract for his crumbled business empire that he graciously conjured for Kogi State in desperation for acceptance and power to the gimmick of relevance, it should be obvious to Sen. Smart Adeyemi that the voters of Kogi West are now smarter.
Only God knows what the future holds but every man should understand that it is not always that contrivances achieve desired results.One will expect Sen. Smart Adeyemi to give account of his stewardship for the eight years he was in the Senate and allow the people to decide if there is any justification to trust him with their mandate again.
