Senator representing Kogi East, Senator Atai Aidoko Ali has expressed surprise that the people of Ajiolo-Ojaji have no access to portable drinking water, while some politicians from the area have private water supply in their houses.
Senator Aidoko said similar complaints was tabled before him by the people of Ejule community where the only borehole in the town was donated by his office to check mate the activities of shylock and commercial water vendors.
He made this statement while playing host to Dekina and Ajiolo youths who jointly visited on a solidarity meeting at Ugbamaka Iga.
The youth requested for a borehole in Ajiolo and its communities.
Aidoko expressed reservation over the plight of the people of Ejule and Ajiolo-Akabe, where two political heavyweights and a contender for the Kogi East senate seat hail from.
“Sometimes ago, there was an allegation and video footage making round to damage my image that my people in Ugbamaka Iga drink water from the stream even with the donation of a functional borehole and other projects.
“They went to a neighbouring village we are trying to capture in our projects and impressed on the people that it was Ugbamaka-Iga, leaving the villages of seasoned bankers that lacked ordinary drinking water.
“We provided boreholes in Ugbamaka Iga, Iga Ikeje, Iga Ocheba, Odobu and Okpo to ameliorate perennial water problems in these areas,” he said.
He assured the people of Ajiolo of a borehole in this year’s constituency projects and promised the people of Dekina/Abocho of provision of more social amenities.
