In what look like a determined quest to wrestle power from the ruling All progressives Congress (APC), core loyalists of former governor and leader of the party in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, on Thursday, moved en mass to African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Led by the Director-General Audu/Faleke campaign organization, Comrade Dan Isah, the aborigine APC members pledged loyalty to the new party, ADC.
The group made this known during the inauguration of interim officers for Kogi state chapter of the party.
Comrade Dan Isah and the Maiyegun of Isanlu land, Chief Dare Olatunde were appointed as State Chairman and Secretary respectively, while Yahaya Abdulkadir is the interim state treasurer.
Other members of the interim leadership are; John Momoh, Suleiman Mohammed Lawal, Hon Moshood Ali, Dr John Odekina, Hon Sumaila Kubo, Zacchaeus Jonathan, Elder Lanre Essan and Hajia Zainab Usman.
The new party leaders were charged to kick start the arrangement in building a strong party that is capable of defeating the ruling party in the next general elections.
The National chairman of the party, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu charged the officers to do their best in propagating the party ideology to ensure the nooks and cranny of the state is saturated by ADC and ultimately chase the current Lugard House occupant in 2019.
Reacting to the appointment, the state chairman, Comrade Dan Isa (Prof) promised to work tirelessly with his team to ensure bad side of governance currently being dished out by the Yahaya Bello-led administration is brought to an end.
He stated that the appointment have set the pace for massive defection into the the party as many are tired of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC and are willing to channel their strength and support to a credible alternative that can challenge the ruling party which ADC is poised to offer as the only choice because of its democratic ideology.
He called on all Kogites to join the party if their sole desire of defeating Yahaya Bello’s administration that has brought untold hardship to them must be fulfilled.
Supporters hailed the appointment of Dan Isah as the state chairman describing him as a square peg in a square hole.
