Acting on ‘orders from above’, a detachment of mobile policemen are currently in front of Senator Dino Melaye’s residence.
The policemen, according to a source, are there to arrest the outspoken Senator.
The source said said the siege is connected with the failed arrest bid at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport.
He said the ‘powers that be’, who are bent on humiliating Melaye, are behind the renewed attempt to arrest and detain the lawmaker. He noted that their aim is to keep him in detention to allow them manipulate his recall process, despite a pending appeal at the Supreme Court and to ensure he plays no role in the forthcoming APC congresses.
The mobile policemen believe Melaye returned to his residence after he was released by Immigration officers who arrested him “based on instructions”.

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) detained Mr Melaye, apparently based on information that he was on the wanted list of the police.

But rather than take the senator into custody, the police instead reportedly distanced themselves from the arrest. Mr Melaye was subsequently allowed to walk away by the NIS officials.

The source told Kogireports that Melaye is not in his residence at the moment and wondered why the policemen could not track him when he left the airport.
“Over 30 heavily armed, fierce looking mobile men stormed the Maitama residence of the Senator after he regained freedom. All roads leading to his residence has been condoned off as the policemen block all roads leading to his house,” he said.
