…suspends inauguration of officers, restates call for IDP camps

The Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Kogi State chapter has called for immediate establishment of secured camps for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in communities attacked by arsonists in Kogi East.

in a press statement signed by the Chairman of the party, Hon. Abdulmumini Ibrahim called on Federal and State lawmakers from Kogi East to rise to the occasion and ensure the affected families and communities are well secured and rehabilitated.

“We urge lawmakers from other districts in Kogi state to support their colleagues from Kogi East in mobilizing support for the devastated communities in Omala, Dekina and Bassa local government areas of the state.

“We call on government to establish IDP camps in the affected areas to ensure proper security and welfare of the displaced persons until the mayhem is fully contained. The secured IDP camps will ensure that displaced persons get needed food, water and medical attention. Stakeholders and relevant bodies will also be able to reach out to them with much needed assistance.

“In solidarity with the bereaved families and communities, the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Kogi State chapter, has decided to suspend the inauguration of party officers in Olamaboro scheduled for March 24th. Our people are going through pains and we have to stand down our programme for now,” he said.
