Humanitarian service in the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State has for an umpteenth time been redefined and given a new leaf by Khalif Cares Foundation, a charity organization poised to address economic, social, and political challenges bedeviling people in the rural areas across Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the foundation had on Friday 26th January, 2018 trained and empowered not less than 800 entrepreneurs in the district.
In the same vein, the foundation has today given respite to 60 students who were stranded on the payment of their registration fees for the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC).
The students, who were selected from various schools across the five local government areas, got their hopes restored when the KCF team met with them in their schools respectively, handing each student the sum of N30,000.
The Lead Director of the foundation, Comr Adomu Adeiza stated that the exercise was in fulfillment of the mandate from the founder, Alh Khalifa Abdulrahman Okene who according to him was passionate about the academic strides of youths across the country.
He revealed that the foundation through her field officers had two months ago gone to select-schools to intimate with the Principals on the welfare of less privileged and bright students, from where they got the data of the beneficiaries.
According to him, 12 students across various secondary schools were selected from each local government area, summing the total drawn from the five local governments to 60.
At each of the schools visited, he challenged the students to be hard-working, especially in preparation for the examinations, and the bid to further place the outstanding ones on full scholarship to tertiary institutions of their choice.
Adeiza revealed that the foundation would by March, 2018 unveil her official fund raising event to cater for Girl –Child education across the country.
To some of the students, the gesture was unprecedented with reasons from sour experiences they had in times past.
Yusuf Bashirat, a student of Government Science Secondary School, Adogo in Ajaokuta Local Government Area thought the feasibility study by field officers to be the usual from politicians.
“When they first came to our school to collect our information, I felt not interested because people always come and they will not do anything for us. So when they called me this morning that they were on their way to my school to pay my registration, I was still filled with doubts.
“I am grateful to Khalif Cares Foundation for paying my fees. May God continue to bless the foundation,” she prayed.
From the various Principals of schools visited, it was recounts of how they became helpless in registering the financially handicapped students before the closing date of registration, therefore expressing delights for the reprieve given them.
One of them, Mr Salihu Ibrahim Obaro said he had foreknowledge of the foundation’s charitable activities, but never expected the tide of such benevolence in his school.
“If somebody out there has such wisdom to do this, there is no doubt that God has a future plan for the person. Indeed, some people had similar intentions, but at the end, you will not see them. But I am happy today is a reality. So I pray that the heart desires of the founder will also come to reality by God’s grace,” he said.
