The coalition of Oodua Self-determination Groups (COSEG) has warned the federal government to stay away in Yorubland in the plan to promote fulani expansionist agenda through so-called “cattle colonies” across the country.
This warning was given on Sunday in Lagos by the leadership of the coalition in a press release signed by the Chairman and Secretary of its coordinating Council Comrades Ifedayo Ogunlana and Rasaq Olokoba as well as other group leaders that make up COSEG, at the end of the group’s review of the state of the nation.
“This is not only a primitive idea but against universal best practices; it is equally an attempt to arm twist other tribes for fulani neo colonisation. We shall resist this treacherous and boldface terrorism. No where in Yorubland of Kwara, Kogi, Itsekiri, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states shall we cede an inch of our land.
“The President, General Muhammadu Buhar is the life patron of Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and has remained mute over the years for the wicked activities of the fulani marauders. We recollect vividly sometime in year 2000 Buhari’s invasion of Oyo state government house over false alarm about Oke-Ogun herdsmen-farmers’ clashes. Whereas the herdsmen were the aggressors, President Buhari threatened war bringing to question his statesman status.
“Has this administration not declared operations python dance, crocodile and similar operations against some groups? Why is the government of President Buhari looking the other way in the case of the herdsmen? Must bloodstream from other nationalities be created to pacify the fulanis as president Buhari begged “in the name of God to accommodate their countrymen” when the Benue state delegation led by governor Ortom visited him on Monday at the state house in Abuja!
“The federal government is camouflaging under another booby’s traps and backdoor arrangements to awaking the dead anti-grazing Bill earlier proposed by this administration. This is the twenty-first century, no where in the whole world is cattle colonies being practice. You take over ten thousands (10, 000) hectares of peoples’ land in the name of cattle colonies. This is to legitimise fulani expansion dream. You wake up one morning to see that a community has been sacked and a fulani Emir installed. Six decades ago, Nigeria exited the British colony; and in the 21st century we want to be subjugated to “cow colony, ” what a retrogression?
“Moreover, the nefarious activities of the herdsmen has become a national calamity that is not only perpetrated down south but equally in the far north and middle belt of Nigeria. They herdsmen are seeing openly carrying and wielding A.K guns without any challenger.
“Their actions raises bad omens in our nation state security, food insecurity, environmental hazards, killings and massacre of defenceless citizens, proliferation of arms and the question whether Nigeria is still safe for other nationalities,” the group said.
The group asserted that the roadmap to stop this recurring massacres across the country is the restructuring of Nigeria along regional parliamentary democracy.
