Architect Idris Salman has given out scholarships to 70 indigent students from Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu local government areas of Kogi state to enable them sit for the forthcoming Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
The gesture, which was in continuation of the Annual Arc. Salman Idris JAMB Scholarship Scheme, was made yesterday in Kabba.
The scholarship was given to the less privilege students under the Association of Okun Students Educational Development Program covered three three local governments. Additional cash was given to recipients as transport fare after completion of their registration at JAMB center Kabba.
The coordinator of the program, Mr. Femi Oloye said Arc. Salma believes that the future of youths must be adequately secured through acquisition of qualitative education, while noting that this is not the first time Salman will be giving JAMB scholarship to the less privileged.
Speaking at the JAMB registration center, a beneficiary, Mr. Ekundayo Peter from Kabba-Bunu local government, commended Salman for the intervention.
“I have been thinking on how to obtain JAMB form this year but God did it in a miraculous way through Arch Salman Idris. I pray God will grant him his heart desire in Jesus name. Salman all the way,” he said.
Another beneficiary, Miss Ologe Esther from Iyah Gbede in Ijumu local government, praised Salman for his continuous support for youths in the area.
“Arch Salman has been doing this for the past few years and he has not stopped supporting us. People within and outside his community hold him in high esteem. Initially, I thought it was a scam like the way others politician use to deceive us but it is a reality. I pray God make him flourish in his doing,” she said.
Speaking on the program, Arch Salman Idris said no one is successful until he can put smiles on the face of people.
