The National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN, Lokoja Local Government chapter, has conferred the award of meritorious service on the Administrator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Shiru Lawal.
Presenting the award in a colourful ceremony in Lokoja, President of the Council, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu said the council decided to bestow the award on Hon. Shiru for providing the dividends of democracy despite the lean resources currently facing the Local Government.
“The performance of Hon. Shiru Lawal since he assumed office attracted the attention of the Council. He has demonstrated high level of patriotism and selfless service since his appointment as the administrator,” he explained.
Comrade Abdullahi, who commended the administrator over his developmental strides, appealed to political appointees from the area to emulate Shiru who he said see the challenges of leadership as service to humanity and not an avenue to enrich himself.
Responding, the administrator thanked the Council for the award and assured the people of Lokoja Local Government Area of his determination to move the Local Government forward.
He announced that the award would ginger him to do more especially on the provisions of social amenities to the people.
“With this award done to the good people of Lokoja Local Government, my administration would not relent in our determination to provides social amenities to our people, especially education, health and disease free water and a host of others,” he stressed.
He described youths as veritable tools of development stressing further that the local Government is ready to partner with the organization and urged them to maintained the good work which the organization is known for.
The occasion which took place at conference hall of Kewon Hotel, Lokoja, was witnessed by dignitaries in and outside Lokoja.
