Chairman Senate committee on Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), Senator Atai Aidoko Ali is set to embark on the construction of the 5km Dekina-Okete road in Kogi State.
According to a press statement released by the Senator’s media office, Aidoko assured the people of the area that work will commence on construction site at the end of the current rainy season as feasibility studies and necessary technical works had already been concluded.
The Federal lawmaker expressed worries over the plight of the people of the area over the years, saying the non-motorable status of the road has affected of economic activities of the people badly.
He said the yearly visit of Muslim faithfuls, who followers of a late renown cleric, to the community despite his demise is another good reason he considered when prioritizing the construction of the road.
He said as part of his constituency projects, roads, availability of water supply, schools, hospitals and necessary equipment will be provided in all the nooks and crannies of Kogi East.
The senator stated that the grading and re-grading of the road had worsened its condition. He commended the people of the community for their patience.
