Senator Atai Aidoko representing Kogi East Senatorial district has stated that he will not contest for governorship race in 2019.

Speaking with Daily Post in Abuja on Saturday, he explained that suspicion was rife that he was warming to contest for governorship position in 2019.

He, however, stated that he has had enough of political offices since 1999.

Lamenting that Kogi had collapsed politically due to APC led government, he tasked the PDP youth in the state to rescue the state before the situation degenerates further.

“There have suspicion that I want to contest or that am nurturing gubernatorial ambition. Let me be very clear that I will retire to doing business in 2019.

“I am a ranking Senator, having been to the House of Representatives twice, I have been to the Senate twice and I think it’s enough. I thank God, thank the people and in 2019, I will be doing little business to take care of my family”, he assured.

Aidoko decried silence of Kogi political elders in the face of worst situations in the state, recalling that he suffered untold hardship among the elite in the state.

Speaking on the PDP court judgement, the lawmaker was optimistic that it would serve as catalyst for victory in  future elections.

He maintained that reconciliation Committees were being put in place to bring members together as one big family, adding that those of Ali Modu Sheriff camp were merely with him as a result of court judgement at that time.

“The Supreme Court Judgement has brought us together naturally, besides, reconciliation Committees were put together by the party organs and I think there is no problem again”, he maintained.
