In line with the mandate of its agency, the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has assured the people of the State of the agency’s readiness to ensure that their right to quality products and services are not violated
The Director General of Consumer Protection Council, Barrister Babatunde Irukera who gave the assurance during a chat with this reporter in Lokoja recently, noted that plans are on to establish a branch of the agency in the State.
Barr Irukera urged consumers in the State to be conscious of the standard and quality of product they procure, revealing that the agency is fully prepared to defend their interest by ensuring that they are not shortchanged.
He noted that with the current ‘Consumer’ policy is carefully designed to enhance quality consumer service delivery and called on consumers to ensure they derive value for their money.
The CPC boss reiterated the commitment of the agency to strengthen it’s monitoring and enforcement mechanism, stressing that it would not renege on its constitutional responsibilities.
He affirmed that his management will not accept anything short of optimum service delivery as a healthy nation is a wealthy one, stressing that high premium should be placed on consumers
While he stressed the need to regulate substandard products in the country, He added that the Council is making efforts to ensure that it does not inly stand for the consumers but also fight to reduce high cost of commodities in the market
