The Kogi State Command of MAN O’ WAR has been assured of the support and collaboration of the member representing Lokoja II in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Idris Ndako, to achieve mutual benefits and ensure security of lives and properties in his constituency.
Hon Ndako gave the assurance when the organization made him a patron in Lokoja.
The letter of confirmation was presented to the lawmaker by the Commandant General who was represented by the Kogi State Commandant of MAN O” WAR, Comrade Momoh Abdulrauf Simpa.
Hon Ndako appealed to relevant authorities in the country to appreciate the enormous sacrifices the volunteers, especially the MAN O’ WAR has been making to the growth and development of Nigeria since 1960s, especially in the protection of lives and properties and training of our teaming youth corp member. He, however, lamented the way some people he described as bad eggs tried to use the organization in achieving their personal interest.
“In 2006/2007, somebody introduced himself as commandant of MAN O WAR in Kogi state and requested for a plot of land to establish office which we allocated as requested only to discover that the organization is fake after they sold the plot”, he explained.
The Chairman House Committee on Government Administration expressed his determination to ameliorate sufferings and solve the problems of under development in Lokoja II constituency.
He appealed to the officials of the organization to use its position and contacts to partner with other Non Governmental Organizations (NGOS) in order to sensitized youth in the State to avoid social vices and contribute more meaningfully to the development of Kogi State in general and Lokoja II in particular.
Speaking earlier, the State Commandant of MAN O’ WAR informed the Lawmakers that the organization is an affiliate member of the Outward Bound Organization Worldwide existing in over 50 countries of the world. It is the first in Africa and first in the world and has trained more than seven million people from all works of life since 1950.
The organization, he further explained, is a voluntary organization, viable and potent force in the promotion of ideas of citizenship and leadership training with the main objectives of training the youth to be disciplined, self- reliant, patriotic and to become good leaders.
“At this junction, Honourable, the MAN ‘ O WAR NIGERIA, Kogi State command hereby wishes to request Hon Idris Ndako, as a mark of Honour, to be one of the Patron”, he announced.
