Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in a bid to make education in Kogi State qualitative has set up plans to turn all the public schools that are in shamble to model schools.
He disclosed this during the celebration of his 100 days in office at Riverton Hotel Lokoja adding that by the grace of God and with the peoples support all the public schools will bounce back to life.
Bello also stated that public schools are no longer meeting up with today’s challenges, saying “Private schools have taken over. In the days ahead by the special grace of God our public schools will bounce back to life. Those who put their children in private schools will come back to public school”.
He also said his administration will dedicate three model schools in each Senatorial Districts in the state. “One school per senatorial district can make a model school, every group will be equally be represented. The young ones who have being divided will soon be reintegrated with quality schools across the board. And we shall continue like that until all schools in Kogi becomes a model school”.
He stated categorically that whosoever believes in his administration and wants to follow will to sanitize kogi state and take it to a greater height should work selflessly with his administration irrespective of where you come from.
The number one citizen of the Confluence state also disclosed that all our public schools are in shamble yet they have teachers who take salaries from the state coffers every month, adding that the schools are not meeting up with the realities on ground.
He said when the model school kick starts cultural reintegration will take place with quality school facilities across the board.
He also said a lot of students are graduating every year, he urged them to align themselves with his administration and be engaged in something, while maintaining that those being owed bursary will soon have a cause to smile after they have fixed certain problems.
He also promised the NYSC corps in the state that their monthly allowance will be paid to them irrespective of their area of designation in the state.
Bello stated also that his administration is putting squared peg in a squared hole, maintaining that his next four years will be zero tolerance.
He disclosed that they have brought in technocrats into the administration, stating that they are running this administration on a way different from the previous administrations.
He said they have equally granted autonomy to local government areas, adding that they will introduce certain projects that will put bread on the kogites tables not sharing of money because sharing of money is not enough to provide for them.
He also said his concern is to reach out to the commoners in the rural areas. Those who can not pay their hospital bills. He also disclosed that he will give every traditional ruler the power they required to rule ,adding that the previous administrations over looked them.
We shall give them instruments of operation by that they should be sanitizing their domain and our society. That way they should be able to give account of what ever thing that happened in their domain’.
