The immediate past governor of Kogi state Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has denied his planned defection to the major opposition party, the All Progressive Congress, (APC).
The former governor who stated this in Lokoja, after presenting the report of the Kogi State Elder’s Advisory Council to governor Idris Wada at the government house, said he will not abandon his house to become a tenant in someone else’s house.
According to him nothing has happened to warrant his defection to the opposition, saying that the elders of the party are working very hard to ensure the victory of the party in the re-scheduled election slated for March 28, and 11th April, 2015.
Idris said it was a big lie, asking rhetorically how anyone would expect that to happen?
“How can I leave my house and go to where? PDP is a home we built, with other strong men and we have to remain there, no place to go.”
“It is very ridiculous for me to leave a house that I built to become a tenant in another person’s house. I have not left and there was no basis for me to consider leaving” he stressed.
On how to bring back aggrieved members of PDP who had left the party, he assured that discussion was ongoing, calling on all members to continue to work for the success of the party.
He said the state has recorded tremendous progress under the leadership of governor Idris Wada, adding that the governor required the support of all kogi indigenes to succeed.
Earlier the governor of Kogi state, Capt Idris Wada, commended the determination of the Kogi State Elders Advisory Council, headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, as shown by the timely submission of their report.
The Governor thanked the council for the dedication, zeal and rapport entrenched into the committee work of the council to have produced a report within a short period.
He promised to implement their recommendation, even as he restate his determination to run a transparent and all inclusive government, where all sons and daughters of the state will have a say.
