Kogi/Enugu Boundary Dispute: Anyim, Ekweremadu Fingered in Communal Conflict

Secretary to the Federal Government, Mr. Anyim Pius Anyim and the Deputy Senate President, Mr. Ike Ikweremadu have been fingered by the Ette Community in Olamaboro Local Government Area in Kogi state behind the boundary dispute between Kogi community and Enugu State.

The president of Ette Community Development Association, ECDA, Mr. Anthony Eko in a press briefing said about five people have been killed, while another 1,500 have been displaced, with many properties destroyed and houses burnt by the warring thugs believed to be sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Mr Ike Ekwuremadu with the intent to seize the community from Kogi state and take over its rich natural resources.

The group alleged that the palace of the Onu-Oda-Adogo of Ette, Chief Aaron Ako was also torched by irate thugs from Enugu state.

Eko alleged that, one Anthony Ogidi, who claimed to be representing the community in Enugu State House of Assembly was said to be the ring leader using state machinery to intimidate the people.

Ogidi, Nigerian News-Direct gathered was instrumental to closing down of the police station in Ette.

The association also called on the ACF and other Northern body to assist in ensuring that the Enugu State government respect the Supreme Court judgement which mandated the two States to return to status -quo until the issue of land is settled by the National Boundary Commission.
