The member representing the good people of Yagba East State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, has been selected to receive the highly prestigious AASU Africa Leadership Personality Award at the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU) International Youth Day Celebration 2026, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 12th August 2026 in Tangier, Kingdom of Morocco.
The award, conferred by the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU)—the apex continental body representing over 350 million students across 54 African countries—recognises Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Obaro’s outstanding contributions to legislative excellence, digital innovation, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance.
According to the official notification issued by the Presidency of AASU, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro will receive the distinguished “AASU Africa Digital Innovation Personality Award” in recognition of his visionary leadership, commitment to technology-driven governance, and unwavering dedication to expanding opportunities for young Africans through digital transformation.
The citation further acknowledges his remarkable legislative initiatives that have promoted transparency, constituency engagement, youth-focused policies, and the adoption of digital solutions to strengthen democratic governance. His exemplary leadership has continued to inspire a new generation of public servants committed to innovation, accountability, and sustainable development.
This year’s International Youth Day Celebration, themed “Empowering African Students and Youth to Drive Digital Innovation and Strategic Partnerships for Agenda 2063,” will bring together distinguished African leaders, policymakers, development partners, ministers, business executives, and youth leaders from across the continent to deliberate on Africa’s digital future.
