SURE-P: Awoniyi Express Satisfaction With Project Performance of Kogi Council Chairmen

The Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme has been described as one policy of the President Goodluck administration that should be sustained.

Arc Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor and Chairman State Monitoring Committee of SURE-P, made the remarks at the excellent leadership award held in honour of Council Chairmen in Kogi State for their effective utilization of SURE-P funds accrued to them by the State Council of the Kogi State Nigeria Union of Journalists.

Awoniyi who was represented by Prince Richard Akanmode, Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Deputy Governor, lauded the use of the SURE-P funds in touching critical sectors of the peoples life in the state by the Council Chairmen, also commended Capt Idris Wada for using the funds to the benefits of the people in the state.

Awoniyi maintained that the close monitoring of the funds by the state government was to ensure that with the subsidy removal, the pain of the people is greatly reduced through projects that are having direct bearing with the people.

Awoniyi expressed satisfaction with the project performance of the Council Chairmen in the state, added that efforts is also on to ensure a smooth success of the third phase of the projects to be executed under the programme.

The SURE-P funds Awoniyi explained has been used effectively in the state to renovate general hospitals, a good transport system and improvement in the living standard of the people, urged the Council Chairmen to see the honor done them by the Kogi State NUJ as expectation to do more for the people in the years ahead, congratulated them for been among the chosen few to be selected and honored.

The Deputy Governor also lauded the use of the funds to complete the Lokoja Abuja road and several other projects in the State, said the partial removal of the fuel subsidy has now been justified, through the numerous benefits accruing to the people.
