Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State, has had surgery for broken bone at Cedarcrest Hospital, where he is receiving treatment following a car crash he was involved in on Friday, his doctor has said. The governor was initially rushed to the Emergency Ward of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja after the accident, which occurred on the Lokoja – Ajaokuta expressway, around Salem University.
Gov Wada and his convoy were returning from an official assignment and were close to Lokoja, the state capital before the accident occurred.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Felix Ogedegbe, the Medical Director of Cedarcrest Hospital confirmed that the governor was received at the hospital at about 8pm on Friday in a stable condition.

He also said Governor Wada is responding to treatment
Mr Ogedegbe also confirmed that the governor had a fracture in his thigh bone though it has been fixed.
He said the governor did not suffer any life threatening injuries and that there will be no need to fly him abroad for further treatment, though his recuperation period is yet to be ascertained.
The special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Jacob Edi also confirmed that the driver of the crashed vehicle, Isah Jubril is responding to treatment.
The governor’s Aide de Camp, Idris Mohamed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police died on the spot of the accident.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Richard Elesho, last night dispelled rumours that the Governor was dead.
He said: “I am very happy to announce to you that the Governor is not dead. He is not dead at all. I don’t want to tell you where he is. The Governor is in stable and healthy condition. It is unfortunate that we lost the ADC in the auto crash.
“I have also heard people saying the driver died. No. It is not true. There were just three people in the car, the Governor, the ADC and the driver. The ADC died on the spot, but the Governor and driver are in stable condition. Why do you want me to tell you where he is?
“If I am bold enough as a colleague to let you know that we lost the ADC, why do I have to lie to you? The Governor is alive, hale and hearty, but I don’t have to disclose the exact location of the Governor to you; must I? I only have to tell you as a colleague that the Governor is alive.
“He had the first treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja. After we left the Specialist Hospital, we went to Government House. But I don’t have to tell you his exact location at the moment.”
