Kogi Assembly Crisis: Reconciliatory Meeting Ends in Fiasco

The end to the crisis rocking kogi state house of assembly is not yet in sight as the legislators engaged each other in a free for all fight at Ibro Hotels in Abuja penultimately on Wednesday during the reconciliatory meeting among the factions.

The meeting which was called at the instance of the former governor, Ibrahim Idris to broker peace saw the main leaders of the two factions resorting to beating each other.

Mr. Gabriel Odaudu, a member representing Ogori-mangogo state constituency lost his temperament in an ensued melee and slapped his honourable colleague from Adavi, one Mr. Abdullahi Lawal over his denial that he did not signed the impeachment letter.

The crisis started by an impatient legislator who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFFC over his financial recklessness when he was the chairman of Ogori-Mangogo Local government council. While the already confused former governor Ibrahim Idris was struggling to separate the crisis another major fight broke out between two others from the two camps.

The ousted majority leader, Honourable Yakubu Yunusa from Ofu constituency who felt infuriated by the verbal assault on him by the Dekina 11 members of the house, honourable Gowon Paul and dished him another slap which earned the ofu legislator the beating of his life as the pastor turned law maker brought his thugs to unleashed terror on him.

The situation led to people running helter-Skelter with people hiding from thrown bottles and objects hurled at each other.
