The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) from Bassa and Dekina Local Government Areas, along with serving and former Councillors from Bassa’s ten wards, on Saturday threw their weight behind Rt. Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN, Member representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency, endorsing him for re-election in 2027.
The endorsements came during separate engagements held earlier in the day, with both groups citing the lawmaker’s development record across the constituency as the basis for their support.
NULGE Passes Vote of Confidence
Speaking on behalf of the NULGE delegation, the Union’s Bassa LGA Chairman, Comr. Hon. Amodu Ademu, thanked IJN for the opportunity to engage with him, telling the lawmaker that the visit was inspired by what he described as unprecedented developmental strides recorded across the constituency.
Ademu listed a string of projects he said underscored this progress, including the Kekure Bridge in Akakana, the Gboloko Bypass Road, and the renovation of Abocho Cottage Hospital and Muslim High School Anyigba. He also pointed to the construction of Onu Egume Palace, a six-block classroom project at Emewe Efopa, and road works on Iyale Township and General Hospital Roads.
Beyond infrastructure, Ademu noted the provision of solar-powered boreholes and solar street lights, as well as humanitarian support extended to constituents and displaced persons.
Following the presentation, NULGE unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence in IJN’s leadership and pledged its support for his re-election bid in the 2027 General Election.
Councillors Endorse Second Term, Hail “Mr. Project”
In a separate meeting, the forum of serving and former Councillors from Bassa LGA extended their own endorsement to the lawmaker, popularly known as IJN, describing him as “Mr. Project” in recognition of his development record. The Councillors pledged to carry his message of hope, development and continuity to the grassroots across their respective wards.
Responding to both groups, Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN expressed profound appreciation for their recognition of what he called his modest contributions to the constituency. He promised to do even more if entrusted with the people’s mandate once again.
For IJN, development is not a promise — it is a responsibility. And with 2027 approaching, the message from the grassroots is becoming clearer: let the performer continue.
