In a major effort to bolster labor harmony and civic safety across Kogi West Senatorial District, the Workplace Security Campaign team made strategic visits to Yagba West and Yagba East Local Government Areas on Wednesday, advocating for a unified front to safeguard job sustainability and workers’ welfare.
Addressing public servants during separate town hall sessions at the Council Secretariats in Odo-Ere and Isanlu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Kogi West, Comrade Dr. Ranti Ojo, urged civil servants to critically assess the developmental strides of the current administration. He emphasized that an objective evaluation of government performance remains essential for workers to make informed choices that secure their collective future and the well-being of their dependents.
Dr. Ojo explained that the ongoing sensitization exercise operates on a dual mandate, focusing on personal safety in the workplace as well as broader job security. He maintained that the achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Usman Ododo clearly demonstrate a leadership deeply committed to the growth, safety, and general welfare of the state workforce.
Corroborating these points, the team leader and Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, assured the gatherings that responsive governance remains the core priority of the state leadership. Citing key labor interventions across the state, Comrade Edoka called on civil servants to maintain their support for both the President and Governor Ododo, noting that sustained political stability is crucial to consolidating ongoing developmental projects and welfare schemes.
Responding on behalf of local government workers in Odo-Ere, the Yagba West Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Olorunshola Helen Aduke, expressed appreciation for the state government’s posture toward labor. She formally passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ododo, citing widespread satisfaction with the administration’s policy direction.
In Isanlu, the Yagba East Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Comrade Moses Oyebode, commended the worker-friendly policies of the state government while appealing for the expedited disbursement of outstanding gratuities to further cushion economic challenges faced by retirees.
The advocacy tours across both local government headquarters concluded with vibrant cultural performances celebrating local heritage and the partnership between state workers and the administration.
