Workers of Bassa Local Government Area have pledged their unwavering support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the forthcoming elections, citing improved welfare packages and visible governance achievements under the current administration.

The declaration was made on Monday in Oguma, the local government headquarters, during a visit by the Workplace Security Campaign Team led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour, Comrade Onuh Edoka.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Bassa Local Government Council, Hon. Theophilus Danruwana, said Governor Ododo has performed creditably in office and deserves re-election. He noted that workers across the state have fared better under the Ododo administration, describing the ongoing sensitisation exercise as a call to greater service and mobilisation ahead of the polls.

Danruwana commended the campaign team for taking the message to the grassroots and expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would record a landslide victory across the state.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union in the area, Comrade Adamu Amodu, who spoke on behalf of other unions, outlined the achievements recorded by the Governor since assuming office. He said workers were resolute in their decision to return Governor Ododo for a second term. However, he appealed to the Special Adviser to help address some of the challenges still facing workers in the local government, saying doing so would further solidify their support base.

In his remarks, Comrade Onuh Edoka said the workplace sensitisation exercise was critical given the importance of a safe and secure work environment to productivity. He urged workers to remain security-conscious at all times, stressing that job security remains key to the wellbeing of workers and their families.

The Special Adviser assured that the government was already looking into most of the challenges highlighted by the workers, and thanked the Council Chairman for his presence and commitment throughout the visit.

Present at the event were the Bassa Local Government Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari; the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani; the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) Chairman, Comrade Olusegun Alemeru; and other political office holders.
