Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN, Member representing Bassa/Dekina Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has continued his grassroots engagement across the constituency ahead of the 2027 General Election, recently visiting Odu-Ate, where he met with members of the Grand Engine Associates and the Hajia Okiya Group.
The visit provided an opportunity for the lawmaker to interact directly with community leaders, stakeholders and residents while assessing their needs and strengthening the relationship between the people and their representative.
During the engagement, community leaders expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Haruna for the provision of a solar-powered borehole for the community. They described the project as a practical intervention that addresses one of the most fundamental needs of the people and reflects what they consider genuine grassroots representation.

The stakeholders particularly commended the lawmaker for not limiting representation to political promises, but for supporting projects capable of making a direct difference in the daily lives of constituents.
In a strong show of confidence, the community leaders pledged their total support for Hon. Haruna’s candidacy and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming elections.
They declared that the lawmaker may not need to return to Odu-Ate for another campaign, insisting that, in their view, his campaign in the community effectively ended the day he commissioned the solar-powered borehole. The stakeholders said the community had resolved to reciprocate the gesture by giving their support and votes to Hon. Haruna and other APC candidates.
The declaration represents a significant expression of grassroots confidence in the lawmaker’s representation, particularly among communities that continue to assess political leadership through tangible development and direct engagement.
For the people of Odu-Ate, the commissioning of the solar-powered borehole has become more than the unveiling of an infrastructure project; it has become, in their words, a symbol of representation that reaches beyond political rhetoric and touches everyday life.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, the warm reception accorded to Hon. Paul Gowon Haruna IJN and the community’s declaration of support further highlight the importance of grassroots engagement, responsiveness and visible development in building lasting relationships between elected representatives and their constituents.
