The Media Team of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has debunked widespread misconceptions arising from a trending headline published by Observers Times which read: “Natasha Dumps PDP for NDC Ahead of 2027 Polls.”
The clarification followed several calls, messages, and social media tags directed at the team and supporters of the Kogi Central lawmaker, with many mistakenly assuming the report referred to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
According to the NAU Media Team, the publication by Observers Times was not about the Kogi Central Senator, but rather about Natasha Osawaru Idibia of Edo State, who reportedly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

“To the general public who have been calling and at the same time tagging us to the headline which says, ‘Natasha Dumps PDP for NDC Ahead of 2027 Polls,’ it is important to state clearly that the report is not about Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan,” the statement read.

The team further expressed disappointment over the framing of the headline, noting that it created avoidable confusion among members of the public and political stakeholders.
“The publication by Observers Times concerns Hon. Natasha Osawaru Idibia of Edo State, who decamped from PDP to NDC yesterday. Therefore, the NAU Media Team expected Observers Times to use a clearer headline such as, ‘Natasha of Edo State Dumps PDP for NDC Ahead of 2027 Polls,’ instead of the misleading headline currently in circulation,” the statement added.
Reaffirming the Senator’s political loyalty, the media team stressed that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains a committed member of the PDP and continues to serve as one of the party’s leading figures in Kogi State.
“Distinguished Senator Natasha remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and PDP leader in Kogi State as of today,” the statement noted.
The team also disclosed that the Senator has already picked her PDP Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for a second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, dismissing speculations of defection as false and unfounded.
The clarification comes amid increasing political activities and public interest surrounding alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
