A former Deputy Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi state, Dr. Omede Idris, has applauded Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, for the courage to resign his membership of the party after prolonged leadership crisis.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Dr. Omede said the House of Reps member took the right step by joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omede, who ran on same governorship ticket with Abejide in the 2023 Kogi state gubernatorial election, said the move to APC was strategic and divine.

He applauded Abejide’s decision to pick APC nomination and intent forms to seek re-election into the House of Representatives in 2027.

“Hon. Leke Abejide has paid his dues and is a darling of his constituents. He has not spared anything to make life better for his people in the last seven years.

“His decision to join APC and seek re-election under the ruling party is a welcome development and it enjoys the support of all his teeming supporters beyond his constituency.

“Hon. Abejide is prepared to do more for the people of Yagba federal constituency and others across the state. His re-election will usher in more development and pro-people initiatives,” he said.

Dr. Omede assured Abejide that all their supporters across the state are finalizing plans to join him in APC.

“All our remaining team of loyal and consistent supporters from Kogi East senatorial district, as discussed, are finalizing arrangements to move into APC with Hon Abejide,” he added.
