The Kogi state government, in collaboration with civil society organizations, has unveiled a service charter for selected ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as part of efforts to promote accountability, transparency and improved service delivery in the public sector.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Lokoja on Tuesday, the Executive Director of INGRA, Hamza Aliyu, commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for supporting initiatives under the Open Government Partnership (OGP) aimed at strengthening transparency and citizen participation in governance.
He noted that the charter clearly outlines service standards, timelines and expectations, providing citizens with a framework to demand accountability from government institutions.
Also speaking, the Co-Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the Open Government Partnership, Amb. Idris Muraina Ozovehe, described the service charter as a “public pledge” by government institutions to deliver efficient and quality services to the people.
Representatives of the participating MDAs who attended the event pledged their commitment to uphold the principles of accountability and improved service delivery.
The Kogi State Head of Service, Barr. Falilat Musa, who formally unveiled the service charter, described it as a significant milestone in the state’s effort to institutionalize good governance and responsive public service.
The initiative was developed through collaboration between the state government and non-state actors, including the Initiative for Grassroot Advancement in Nigeria (INGRA).
