By Musa Bakare.

As Kogi State races toward the defining crossroads of 2027, a fierce wind of generational awakening is sweeping through its political terrain. The tone has shifted. The patience is thinning. And the people, especially in Kogi West are asking one sharp question: when will it be our time?

The proverb is clear: when it is time, the bird will perch. In politics, that moment belongs only to those who prepare for it. Generational transition is not about age, it is about capacity, competence, courage, and clarity of vision. The coming election is no routine contest of parties; it is shaping into a referendum on continuity versus renewal, complacency versus courage, old formulas versus new thinking.

Kogi stands on a razor’s edge of possibility. Blessed with talent, diversity, and strategic advantage, the state has everything required for accelerated progress. What it demands now is leadership that understands modern governance, digital innovation, youth and women inclusion, transparent systems, and people first policies.

Kogi West is not begging for power; it is building the strength to shoulder it.

History is unforgiving to the unprepared. Change is never donated, it is earned through discipline, grassroots trust, coalition strength, and visible credibility. Leaders must understand: ambition alone is noise; performance is proof. Today’s voters watch more closely, question more boldly, and reward results, not titles.

For 2027 to become a true generational turning point, three forces must collide:

Prepared leaders with tested ideas, integrity, and steel resolve.

Awakened citizens ready to vote beyond slogans, tribe, or sentiment.

Credible institutions strong enough to defend fairness and transparency.

The season is approaching fast. And when the decisive hour strikes, only those who have strengthened their wings in silence will find a branch strong enough to hold them.

Message to whoever seeks the governorship in 2028: time never sends invitations. It crowns only the ready.

– Musa Asiru Bakare, a foundational member of the All Progressives Congress and political analyst, writes from Lokoja.
