National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, in a move widely regarded as a strategic consolidation of party strength ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections, held a high-level meeting with a former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Regarded as a strong grassroots mobilizer and influential voice within the APC, the former governor remains a prominent figure in national party affairs.

The meeting, which took place in Abuja, comes ahead of the formal inauguration of the APC Campaign Team for the forthcoming FCT Area Council Elections, a contest seen by political observers as critical to consolidating grassroots political influence in the nation’s capital.

Party insiders described the engagement as “strategic, forward-thinking, and unifying,” noting that it reflects the party’s seriousness in mobilizing effectively across the six Area Councils of the FCT.

Discussions during the meeting reportedly focused on harmonizing party structures, strengthening grassroots mobilization, enhancing youth and women participation, and projecting a development-centered campaign message tailored to the needs of FCT residents.

The National Chairman, Professor Yilwatda, was commended for his methodical and inclusive leadership approach. Since assuming office, he has been credited with deepening internal cohesion within the APC and steering the party toward issue-based political engagement. His proactive coordination ahead of the campaign inauguration underscores what stakeholders describe as “a new era of strategic discipline” within the party.

Analysts believe that the chairman’s consultative style and emphasis on unity are positioning the APC to approach the FCT elections with renewed vigor and organizational clarity.

The presence and active participation of Yahaya Bello in the strategic consultation has drawn significant attention within political circles.

During his tenure in Kogi State, Bello championed youth inclusion in governance and expanded the party’s grassroots structures, credentials party loyalists say will be instrumental in energizing the FCT campaign architecture.
