Police Orders Compliance with Kogi Govt Directive on Closure of Markets, Motor Parks

Kogi commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has advised residents to comply fully with the temporary closure of selected markets and motor parks across parts of the State announced by the state government on Sunday.

Kogi government had announced temporary closure of the market and motor parks as part of temporary security measures to curb in the west senatorial district of the state.

Kogi government said the directive was issued in support of ongoing security operations being undertaken in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and other sister security agencies in the affected areas.

In reaction, CP Kankarofi urged residents, traders, and transport operators in the affected areas to adhere strictly to the directive for the duration of the operations.

The spokesperson for the Kogi Police Command, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

The Police Commissioner noted that the temporary shutdown affects selected markets and motor parks in parts of Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi, and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, as earlier announced by the State Government.

CP Kankarofi also advised members of the public to plan their activities accordingly while affirming that the police will closely monitor compliance with the directive with the motor parks and markets closure order.

“The Commissioner of Police appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents of the affected communities and assures the people of Kogi State of the Command’s continued commitment to the protection of lives and property.

“He encourages the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency control room numbers: 0703 832 9084 and 0815 219 5982.

“The Kogi State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc mni, reiterates its commitment to sustaining peace and security across the State and calls for continued cooperation from members of the public.”
