The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has commended the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, for his outstanding leadership and transformative achievements, describing him as a great achiever who has repositioned the institution within a remarkably short period.
Hon. Jones gave the commendation on Saturday, during the joint convocation ceremony of the Polytechnic, an event that attracted government officials, academics, traditional rulers, parents and graduating students from across the state and beyond. He noted that the convocation was not only a celebration of academic excellence but also a testament to the purposeful leadership currently driving the institution forward.
Earlier in the day, as part of activities marking the convocation ceremony, the Commissioner accompanied the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, who represented the Executive Governor, to commission key projects executed by the Polytechnic management. At the Itakpe Campus, three major projects were commissioned, while another three strategic projects were unveiled at the main campus in Lokoja.


Hon. Jones described the projects as clear evidence of effective resource management, vision and commitment to institutional development under the leadership of Prof. Usman. According to him, the improved infrastructure across the campuses has significantly enhanced teaching, learning and the overall academic environment.
He further applauded the Rector for fostering stability, promoting academic standards and strengthening the Polytechnic’s reputation as a centre of excellence for technical and vocational education in the state.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Kogi State Government’s unwavering support for the Polytechnic, noting that education remains a top priority of the current administration.
In his remarks, Prof. Usman Ogbo expressed gratitude to the state government for its consistent support and pledged to sustain the momentum of growth and innovation, ensuring that Kogi State Polytechnic continues to produce graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to societal and economic development.
