Players of Confluence Queens Football Club have boycotted training sessions and are threatening to boycott official matches over unresolved welfare concerns.

Part of their major concerns include lack of vehicle that is road worthy to convey them to trainings and match venues.

The players, who have continued to represent Kogi State with dedication and pride in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), decried their current conditions describing it unsafe, demoralizing, and unacceptable.

According to them, the team’s existing bus is not only uncomfortable and road worthy but also pose serious risks during long-distance travels for league matches.

In addition to transportation challenges, the players are demanding a salary increment, stressing that their current pay does not reflect the demands, risks, and professionalism required at the top level of women’s football in Nigeria.

The team has collectively appealed to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to urgently intervene by providing a standard Coaster Bus and approve an improved salary package to boost their morale and performance.

The players emphasized that their actions are not out of disrespect but a cry for help, warning that continued neglect could derail the team’s progress and image in the league.

As of the time of filing this report, management and government officials are yet to issue an official response.
