By Nuhu Usman.

The recent outburst attributed to Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, which attempts to malign the person and reputation of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, is nothing short of political bitterness, rooted in deep-seated envy and tribal prejudice. His statements are not only misleading but also reflect a sustained campaign of hatred against a man who has consistently redefined leadership and inclusion in Kogi State.

It is unfortunate that Ajaka, who has failed to win the trust of the people even in his immediate locality, has chosen to continue his politics of division and character assassination rather than engaging in meaningful discourse on governance and progress of the state. His attack on Yahaya Bello exposes not courage or truth, but desperation from a politician struggling for national relevance.

Contrary to Ajaka’s baseless accusations, Yahaya Bello’s legacy as the immediate past Governor of Kogi State speaks volumes. His administration remains one of the most inclusive in the state’s history – uniting the diverse ethnic groups of Ebira, Igala, and Okun under one equitable governance structure.

From massive infrastructure projects to youth and women empowerment initiatives, Bello’s leadership transformed Kogi into a state of renewed hope and unity. Under his watch, the state witnessed improved security, stable education policies, and fair appointments that bridged the ethnic divides that had long plagued Kogi politics.

The former Governor’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his continued commitment to the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are unquestionable. Yahaya Bello is not just a politician; he is a political mobilizer with deep grassroots influence, one who connects directly with the people beyond tribal or sectional sentiments.

It is therefore laughable for Ajaka, who has no political structure or legacy of public service comparable to Bello’s, to question his capacity to deliver Kogi State for the APC. The 2023 elections clearly showed where the heart of Kogites lies – with progress, continuity, and loyalty to leadership, not with pretenders and opportunists who result politics to tribal agenda

Ajaka’s repeated mention of EFCC investigations is a tired, recycled narrative often deployed by frustrated politicians to blackmail credible figures. H.E. Yahaya Bello has consistently demonstrated his readiness to clear his name through lawful means, and no amount of propaganda can alter the fact that he remains a respected national leader whose political relevance continues to grow.

It is important to note that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is an astute political strategist who recognizes sincerity, loyalty, and performance. He does not need self-appointed tribal champions to lecture him about credibility. Those trying to paint Yahaya Bello in a bad light before the President are only exposing their insecurity and desperation to gain attention through falsehood.

The people of Kogi State are wiser and more politically aware than ever. They can clearly distinguish between leadership founded on service and one built on tribal bitterness. Yahaya Bello’s towering influence is not because of propaganda but because of years of visible performance and an unbroken connection to the masses.

Kogi State has moved beyond divisive politics, and no amount of smear campaign can undo the unity that Bello’s leadership fostered. The recent endorsement of President Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Ododo for 2027 is a clear indication that the APC in Kogi remains strong, united, and prepared for the next election — under the banner of continuity, not confusion. It is also a signal to the people to remain loyal and not be distracted by the mischievous antics of political detractors.

“You left the party for selfish reason and now blaming the leader who is making tireless effort to put the house in order ahead of 2027”
