The inauguration of the Fairwin Women Advancement Association of Nigeria (FAWWASS), Ofu Chapter, on Wednesday, turned into a show of loyalty for Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, as leaders in the local government pledged massive support for their 2027 re-election bid.
The event, held in Ofu, coincided with a thank-you visit by the Kogi State Accountant General, Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Habibat Oyiza Tijani Onumoko, who founded FAWWASS to drive women’s empowerment and grassroots development.
In her remarks, the Director of Local Government (DLG) hailed Dr. Onumoko’s vision, describing FAWWASS as a platform giving women a stronger voice in governance, enterprise, and community leadership. She also lauded the Ododo administration for sustaining about 40 percent women representation in government, with women serving as Vice Chairpersons of LGAs and Council Leaders across the state.
Charging the newly sworn-in FAWAASS executives, the DLG urged them to work with unity and transparency, saying Ofu’s chapter must stand out as a model of empowerment and service.



In his address, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu commended the State Accountant General, Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijani Onumoko, for her commitment to women’s empowerment and grassroots development.
He called on party members to remain united and loyal, pledging that Ofu LGA would continue to serve as a stronghold of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining about 40% women representation in governance.
Simikarly, the Accountant General of Kogi State, Dr. Habibat Tijani, thanked the people of Ofu Local Government Area for their support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo especially during the electioneering. She also highlighted Governor Ododo’s achievements, including timely payment of salaries, appointments for the people of Ofu, empowerment programs, road construction, educational opportunities, and implementation of minimum wage and leave bonus for civil servants, urging the people to give maximum support for the present administration and it’s reelection.
The occasion drew women leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders, who applauded the Accountant General’s contributions to political inclusion and women’s advancement in Kogi State.
