Comrade Edoka Bags NUJ Award, Pledges to Do More for Society

Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, has been conferred with an outstanding labour award by the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The award ceremony was held at the grand finale of the NUJ Press Week in Lokoja on Thursday.

In his goodwill message, Comrade Onuh Edoka expressed gratitude to the NUJ for the recognition, saying it was a testament to their hard work and dedication.

“I prayed that God would continue to guide and support the NUJ in their endeavors, and I believe this is the most valuable award I have received so far because it is coming from the Profession that matters”, he stated.

Edoka noted that the award was not just a recognition of past achievements, but also a responsibility to do more for the society, emphasizing the importance of truth and integrity in all aspects of life, citing his own experience as a former critic of government who has now become an appointee as a good example.

The Special Adviser on Labor Matters pledged to continue working tirelessly to promote the welfare of workers and the society at large.

He commended the NUJ for their role in holding those in power accountable and promoting good governance.

Edoka’s appointment as Special Adviser, he said, was a testament to the government’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity. He expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged to make a positive impact in his role.

The award, Edoka said, was a blessing and a reminder that there is always more to be done. He urged others to continue striving for excellence and to hold those in power accountable.

Edoka thanked the NUJ for the award and pledged to continue working towards the betterment of the society and expressed his commitment to promoting truth, integrity, and good governance in all aspects of life.

Earlier, the State Chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Ademu Seidu Haruna noted that the choice of awardees followed a painstaking exercise based on their past track record of achievements.

Alhaji Ademu Seidu Haruna urged them to see the NUJ award as a greater call to service, adding that the Union will continue to recognize excellence in service delivery.

Friends and Associates, past and present labour leaders showed solidarity as Comrade Onuh Edoka received the outstanding labour award form the NUJ.
