After a year of suffering from total darkness, the people of Temidayo Quarters in Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area can now heave a sigh of relief as Arc. Salman Idris, member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency donated 500kVA transformer to the community.

An ally of the lawmaker, Comrade Adetayo Opeyemi Duke made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

According to him, “For about one year now, the Temidayo area where my house is located in Ayetoro Gbede has been in total darkness because the transformer was vandalized.”

He further stated that “The youths of the area and the district head approached me to help them appeal to the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Arc Salman Idris, to replace the transformer.”

Comrade Duke said the federal lawmaker, after making frantic efforts to get the government to assist, took it upon himself to restore power supply to the community.

“I have been on his neck almost every week with constant reminders. The reason is simple: I can no longer stay in my house in Ayetoro-Gbede because I would have to put on the generator which might be insensitive to the plight of the people in that area, so I chose to abandon my house until I was able to facilitate the replacement of the vandalized transformer.

“Today, I got a call from our dear Hon. Arc Salman Idris to meet him somewhere in Utako and behold, he bought a brand new 500kVA transformer for us, fully paid for and supplied. I am the happiest man today; my joy knows no bounds,” Duke said.

He expressed delight and appreciation to Arc. Salman for coming to the aid of Temidayo Quarters after suffering untold hardship over the last one year.

“On behalf of the people of Temidayo quarters in Ayetoro Gbede, I want to sincerely thank Hon. Salman Idris FNIA for the kind gesture. The purchase, transportation and logistics for the transformer cost him about 15 million naira. I do not take this kindness for granted sir. I want to assure you sir that We will repay you at the appropriate time.”
