The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the bye-election in Okura Constituency of Kogi state, Hon. Amos Carlos Ahiaba, has petitioned the leadership of the party over what he described as blatant anti-party activities by some key stakeholders within the Kogi State chapter of the ADC.
In a strongly worded statement, Hon. Carlos accused some party leaders of double-dealing and undermining the very platform they claim to represent.
According to him, these individuals have mastered the art of political hypocrisy.
He expressed disappointment at the lack of support from the state leadership, noting that despite his consistent efforts to reach out and carry them along in his campaign activities, none have identified with him publicly or privately.
“They come to Abuja and shout ADC, then return to Kogi and start campaigning for APM and other unpopular parties that lack the street credibility to win any election.
“I am flying the ADC flag with pride and commitment, yet not a single recognized party leader in the state has stood by me. This silence and calculated sabotage is no longer acceptable,” Hon. Carlos lamented.
He further appealed to the national leadership of the ADC to urgently intervene. Specifically, he called on the National Party Leader, Senator David Mark, as well as respected party elder statesman Gen. Tunde Ogbeha (Rtd), Senator Dino Melaye, to wade into the matter and call erring leaders to order before they cause irreparable damage to the unity and credibility of the party in Kogi State.
“Some of these individuals have a well-known trademark in anti-party activities. They have worked against the party in previous elections, and it seems they are poised to do the same again. If ADC must make any meaningful impact in this election and beyond, these acts must be addressed now,” he added.
Hon. Carlos said he remains confident in his grassroots support and maintains that with genuine backing from the party at all levels, ADC stands a strong chance of winning the forthcoming bye-election in Okura Constituency. However, he warned that the continued sabotage from within may derail the party’s chances unless urgent disciplinary action is taken.
