The second runner-up in the 2019 Kogi West senatorial election, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi has said the people of the district must use the 2023 election to unite themselves by supporting a candidate from Yagba federal constituency.

Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja at a public function over the weekend, Adeyemi said the only way Kogi West senatorial district can be seen as a fair, just and equitable people is to support a candidate from Yagba land.

He said the senatorial zone need to unite for future leadership in Kogi state by ensuring principle of equity, fairness and justice prevails in their own handling of the Senate position among the three federal constituencies that constitutes the senatorial district.

Adeyemi, who is currently Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Civil Service and Labour Matters, said that is the only thing that will present the zone as serious, fair, equitable and ready to be given the governorship position in the future.

The Governor’s aide posited that the Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency produced Senator Tunde Ogbeha between 1999-2007 while Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu have produced Senator Smart Adeyemi and Senator Dino Melaye between 2007 and 2023, hence it is in the interest of justice, fairness, equity and moral justification for the people of Yagba with highest number of local governments in the zone be allowed to take the 2023 ticket.

He warned the people of the zone against further dividing itself against collective leadership and political benefits coming in the future, adding that the zone must be politically calculative and administratively correct to be able to get higher leadership positions.

Omoluabi said the time of disunity and division in the zone is gone, adding that the people are wiser and are ready to play inclusive politics devoid of unnecessary annihilation of a part of the zone thereby creating untold political differences among the people of three federal constituencies.

He commended the All Progressives Congress in Kogi state under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello for ensuring principles that binds the people together rather than divide them by ensuring that the senate seat goes to Yagbaland. He said the politics of inclusion and fairness the governor introduced to the state has strengthened the party and positioned it for victory in 2023.

While speaking on the candidate, he said it is obviously undeniable that Hon Sunday Karimi perfectly fits into the requirements of the ideal senator of the people of Kogi West for 2023.

He noted that Karimi has gathered great experience both legislative and political needed to give an unassailable and results-oriented representation the zone needs.

He added that Karimi is a humble, focused and very humane personality that will provide far reaching legislative and democratic benefits for the zone and the people.

“I wish to declare expressly that the right place for Kogi West senator to come from is Yagbaland and the right person to serve is Hon Sunday Karimi because the federal constituency and the personality of APC candidate fit into definition of equity, fairness and justice as the Kogi West is presently constituted.

“As a party man and concerned stakeholder of the senatorial district, I have the responsibility to support equity, fairness, justice and of course the standard bearer of my party who perfectly fits into the demand of the moment. Hon Sunday Karimi is therefore the candidate that will unite the senatorial district towards collective prosperity,” he said.

He further enjoined people of living conscience, opinion leaders and stakeholders of the senatorial district to take a decision to ensure that Yagba Federal constituency is given all the needed encouragement, support and votes to be able to produce the next senator for the sake of posterity.
